A chat with Lisa Watts Baskin, attorney and council member from North Salt Lake, who will give a presentation on Wednesday September 11 where she’ll cover the issues related to initiatives and referendums.
There are still a few seats available for our mobile tour to the Daybreak community in South Jordan and a lot of seats still available for our mobile tour showing affordable housing projects in Salt Lake County. Stop by the ULCT registration desk at the hotel by about 8:30 a.m. on Sept 10 to sign up. Cost is a mere $10.
We also have about 20 seats available to our preconference workshop, The Art of Decision Making, held that same morning at 9:30 a.m. Stop by the registration desk, throw down a $10 bill, and you’re in.
Brian Hall insightfully describes the contents of his workshop that will be held on Wednesday, Sept 10, "Is Anyone Out There: Connecting With Constituents."
We’re excited to announce the addition of another esteemed speaker who will be with us in September, Sir Ken Robinson, who will be featured at our luncheon on Friday, September 12th. We’ve provided a video presentation of a speech he gave in 2006, at the TED Conference.
Mr. Robinson is an internationally recognized leader in the development of creativity, innovation, education and human resources. He has worked with national governments in Europe and Asia, with international agencies, Fortune 500 companies, not-for-profit corporations and some of the world’s leading cultural organizations. For ten years he was Professor of Education at the University of Warwick in England and is now Professor Emeritus.Robinson is the author two books, Out of Our Minds: Learning to be Creative, and next year he’ll releaseThe Element: A New View of Human Capacity. In 2003, he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II for services to the arts.Sir Ken Robinson will address League delegates at our luncheon on Friday.
For those seeking an alternative to the “typical” workshop, you’re invited to join us in the Q & A Café for a little something on the lighter side. This year we’re turning a hotel café into a very relaxing place to talk about a number of delicious municipal issues. We’ve asked folks in the know to moderate a discussion on specific topic and then see where it goes from there. The ambiance includes soft chairs, dim lights, maybe even a few snacks, and no PowerPoint’s.
The Q & A Cafe session include:
